F. S. Welsford Co. is pleased to introduce ControlAir's Type-950XP Explosion-Proof I/P Transducer - Now Approved for Natural Gas

ControlAir Type-950XP

Natural Gas I/P Transducer (Option "E")

Natural gas extraction and transport applications such as natural gas gathering stations, compressor stations, pipeline feed, and booster stations that are in remote locations often do not have access to compressed plant air for operation of pneumatic valve actuators. In these cases, natural gas from the pipeline must be used to supply pressure to the I/P Transducer, that provides the output pressure used to drive control valves.

Precautions must be taken to prevent improper venting of this gas to the atmosphere or leakage into the conduit line. ControlAir has solved this potentially hazardous problem by introducing the "Tapped Exhaust" version of our Type-950XP Explosion-proof I/P Transducer. The Type-950XP tapped exhaust is Factory Mutual (FM) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved for use with natural gas when used with an approved conduit seal. The tapped exhaust option (add an "E" onto the end of the ordering number) the Type-950XP can be used with sweet natural gas – a type of gas that has low corrosive effects and consists of up to 20 ppm H2 S. This will allow you to capture the gas and pipe it away safely.

When the Type-950XP is installed with an FM/CSA-approved conduit seal (wired and potted seal available from ControlAir as kit #448-796-001) that is located less than 18" from the unit, the Type-950XP is FM/CSA-approved for use with natural gas in explosion-proof hazardous areas (Class I, II and III, Division I, Groups B through G) as well as intrinsically safe and nonincendive applications. The housings are NEMA 4X and IP66 rated for corrosion resistance.
